In light of Jenna Ortega getting her first Emmy nomination I wanted to revisit Wednesday! First of all let’s just say thank you for the show makers highlighting Wednesday Addams out of the entire family, everyone finally learned how to pronounce the word.

As amazing as the entire show is, and at the levels it has blown up, there is definitely an aspect that I wish was discussed more within the fandom: Morticia and Wednesday’s relationship. For all of us with mommy issues, this was one of the highlights in the show.

Wednesday like any other teenager has issues with the way her mom ‘conducts herself’. She feels as though Morticia is a mastermind – which isn’t far from the truth – and she is not as nice of a person as she portrays. In that sense she doesn’t understand why she would want to send her to Nevermore. We slowly learn the entirety of the story as the show progresses of course.

I love how patient Morticia is with Wednesday. She understands her idiosyncrasies and she runs with them. Morticia is the cool, badass mom. Wednesday starts off as the petulant child, but as the show goes on we keep learning why she is the way she is. Eventually it ends up healing the relationship between Morticia and Wednesday.

Morticia always has Wednesday’s back no matter how unhinged her decisions are. That’s when we really see the unhinged side of Morticia as well, when it comes to her family she’ll defend them with no remorse. Which is the same epiphany Wednesday that finally repaired their relationship.

If you haven’t seen the show please give it a go! Season 2 is coming soon and all of us can’t wait! The asthetics and the characters of the show just make it something super special.

As a long time Addams Family fan I definitely approve.
