Brooklyn Nine Nine was something I discovered while watching one of my many rewatches of New Girl. I didn’t realize it was a crossover episode, I just thought there was random characters being introduced in one episode, only never to be seen again. When I googled who Jake was I discovered this whole other universe. This is one of those shows that you start and can’t help but immediately fall in love with it.

Just typing this out is making me itch for a rewatch.

Do you want to forget the shit show that is our reality? Do you just want to dissociate from the entire world? Do you want to get lost in an alternate reality and live vicariously through them? Title of her sex tape.

Brooklyn Nine Nine is definitely the show that makes you all giddy from watching television.

The balance of portraying societal issues with the deadpan comedy is gold. Actually I take that back, the levels of comedy vary from intense physical comedy to monotonous, hilarious monologues. Each character brings something so different to the table, some being the cliches we’ve known work so well, and some are just straight up non social beings that have their own charm.

One of the best parts of the show is definitely the cast. It’s DIVERSE, and realistic to the population of New York. They don’t try to glamorize the city either, and if you’ve seen the “Moo” episode you just know how well they handle the sensitive topics.

The dynamics between the characters and perps is so fun! Of course none of it is realistic, but again who is watching Brooklyn Nine Nine for the reality check. We all watch it to escape our minds! Now I will say the last 2 seasons of the show definitely don’t feel like the original show. Cast changes, network changes, an attempt to not feel tone deaf definitely took a toll on the show. But they still wrapped it up well.

I highly recommend watching Brooklyn Nine Nine, they bring a nostalgic modernized sitcom feel to our regular scheduled televised programming. It’s nice to watch such a show where it’s very deep and surface level at the same time.

It’s also extremely refreshing while we’re engulfed with extremely well made heavy dramatic television. It’s a reprise we don’t know we need, but once you get you’ll be like me: on my 7th rewatch.
