Dainty, delicate, deliciousness.

Mehndi, Haldi, events taking place outside. All have certain vibes when it comes to picking outfits. We’re looking for bright opulence, color, patterns, floral. Aisha Rao embodies all of that. The designs are so fun and for a lack of a better word: all the best parts of being a ‘girly girl’. This brand just makes for a happy piece of clothing – unicorns, rainbows, the whole lot.

Aisha Rao makes clothing for those of us girls that love our cliched stereotypes. She has these beautiful big flowers embroidered on the most delicate of fabrics. Universally flattering designs and silhouettes and I would go as far as to say they have aa longevity to them.

My personal favourites are the bright blue and pink pieces. The designs contrasted with the colours are absolutely stunning. I know for a fact anyone wearing those designs will feel like an absolute princess. It kind of reminds me of block print but in 3D. At times the designs are embodied directly onto the garment and at other times there is patchwork.

The silhouettes are pretty generic – which is never a bad thing. Lenghas and sabres are definitely Aisha Rao’s speciality. Cute lengha blouses paired with similar patterned bottoms would probably be my garment of choice.
Regardless the fabric is as such – it’s flowly and hence automatically flattering. The saree drape will enhance and showcase the embroidery in a subdued kind of way.

Styling an Aisha Rao piece definitely wouldn’t be the easiest task at hand. The designs are pretty front and centre, too many accessories can easily make it look overwhelmed. I would definitely think minimal accessorizing is the way to go.
Same would go for the hair – any style that isn’t in your face, possibly just a few face framing pieces.

The black and cream/white pieces are perfect for anyone that wants more subtle clothing, heavily accessorizing these pieces would just enhance the embroidery. May I suggest oxidized jewelry? That would look absolutely stunning.

Aisha Rao has signature design, and in my opinion it is a fresh take on traditional ethnic wear. Also, why fix something that isn’t broken? She has cemented her niche in the Indian fashion industry, and lets me honest, nobody else is doing what she’s doing.

It may not be a multi generation brand, but it does create universally flattering silhouettes. Accessorizing isn’t too difficult – in terms of being minimal – since most pieces speak for themselves.

I’m excited to see what else Aisha Rao comes out with in the coming years. Ethnic innovation at its best.

Best believe I’ll be wearing Aisha Rao to the next haldi or mehdni even I have the pleasure of attending.
