I one day turned on the television and saw New Girl in my recommended. I was having a terrible day and I was a fan of Zooey Deschanel so I decided to put it on. I had no idea what I was really in for. Boy was I in for a ride.

New Girl is about a broken hearted girl moving in with 3 boys. Those three boys all had these unique personalities that still has us quoting their lines. The show is such a great ‘coming of age’ show. Not necessarily in their adolescence, but them figuring out their lives in the their twenties and thirties. It’s such a comfort show for me, I’ve never seen such train wrecks just laugh and take everything a day at a time.

To this day New Girl is still the show I turn on when I feel like the world is ending. You forget everything and get absorbed into their universe. The premise is incredible, and I can totally understand why Prince was a fan of the show. That being said, if haven’t seen New Girl, PRINCE IS IN IT! That should be incentive enough.

I love Schmidt. There are not enough good things I can say about him. There is something to be said about someone who is not only secure in their masculinity, confident in themselves, and at the same time stressed about every little thing. He has the best one liners in the series, and he grew up so much. From manwhore to loyal stay at home dad. Who would have thought?

He’s like the female version of Amy from Broooklyn 99, well that and add some man whoring to that. He loves his work, he’s got a plan and everything is always derailed. But regardless he learns to adapt and adjust. He marries the girl of his dreams and has a daughter that will give him a run for his money one day.

I can’t say enough about all the characters, I love Winston, Nick on my rewatch was added to me one of my favourites, Cece is me trying to figure out life. I love them all. And let’s not forget Reagan, probably one of the best additions. That level of dry humour was so amazing. The physical comedy, the quirky traits, not to mention: True American. That’s going to get added to my never ending todo list now – figure out the rules to True American.

New Girl if you haven’t seen it already is a must watch. Doesn’t matter what gender, age, or anything else, they made this show to be universal. It’s not only hilarious but it will age well, in the world of television, for generations to come. I can immediately feel the stress leaving my back and shoulders the minute I turn it on.

Sigh, I think it’s time for another rewatch.
