Now I know the first few seasons (1-3) of greys are absolute magic, but if cumulate everything. I want to say maybe comparing the first 6-7 seasons of greys with private practice, I love private practice more. 

Honestly I think I love Private Practice more regardless, mostly because I’m a HUGE Addison fan. 

The characters in my opinion were more nuanced, none were black and white, nobody was a strictly an antagonist or protagonist. They all had character arcs (whether it was a good or bad one is debatable).

Addision came into Greys as this badass trying to repair her marriage. Addition in Private Practice is this badass trying to find herself, recognizing her flaws, working on herself, building a real circle of people around her. Her happy ending is one of my happiest moments on television. She took an unconventional path and fulfilled all her wishes. 

Charlotte and Amelia were some of my other favourites. Both start off as being unlikeable. But we get so much back story on everyone it’s amazing. You can’t help but be invested and wait for character arcs to play out. 

Charlotte although she softened over time, she never changed inherently. She was still a hardass, boss bitch, kinky woman with a huge chip on her shoulder. But the way she worked through her relationship with Cooper, took in Mason as her own, figured out the triplets, all while being chief of surgery is commendable.

Amelia was Derek’s annoying kid sister when she was introduced in Greys. Boy did that take a turn in Private Practice. We got the harrowing backstory, addiction, commitment issues, the most heartbreaking birth, and all while being this brilliant surgeon. I will forever root for her. Anyone who still dislikes her hasn’t seen private practice. 

I loved the smaller community, the clearer way things functioned within their practice. Tackling social issues on the show was in my opinion done better, the discussions and debates they had about certain cases was so well done. It was never everyone on the same side, so you got to see all sides of the coin.

Addy definitely made the show, my favourite t.v character out there. Don’t forget her sense of style – so jealous.
