My favorite character from start to finish. Her story is extremely tragic and heartbreaking. Taryn Manning did the character absolute justice.

She’s someone who’s had her fair share of ups and downs, mostly downs, but she’s still trying to figure out how to grow. Someone who’s been dealt that shitty of a hand, it’s extremely difficult to be a nice person. Yeah she turned out to be a ‘bible thumper’, but she needed some sense of self and stability. At the time that seemed like the right decision, eventually she realized she couldn’t rely on someone else’s beliefs and had to discover her own.

Everything from being the ‘bible thumper’ to her signature hoodie look, theyre all her crutches. They are the crutches that help her stand up to her insecurities. Soooo many insecurities from the way she’s been brought up, the way shes been treated and taken advantage of in every relationship, never fully being good enough for everyone. Her darkness is so dark that even she doesn’t see it anymore. When she was raped by Coates she wasn’t even sure what had happened until Big Boo convinces her that it isn’t right. Regardless, to keep loving someone that hurts you speaks to her strength over and over again.

Being a meth head to cope, now that I understood. But the fact that she had the strength to grow the fuck up, that’s something else. She was a victim of circumstance, and insanely uneducated through no fault of her own. Once given the opportunity she grabs it by both hands and holds on tight.
The most gut wrenching part of her whole story: the fact that she grew up so much, yet in the end she still didn’t think she was good enough. Her darkness did take over, and can we blame her?
(Have you see Orange is the Black yet? No? This is your sign to go binge it, it has it ups and downs but overall an excellent piece of television)
