Tarun Tahiliani is one of the most underrated Indian Designers out there. Now before the onslaught of backlash comes my way, hear me out. I don’t know if any of you have seen a Tarun Tahiliani lengha up close and personal, but the brand definitely should be getting a lot more exposure and public acknowledgement among the masses way more than it does.

Celeb brides usually opt for a Sabyasachi lengha for their wedding day, I have yet to see someone wear a Tarun lengha. I promise you everyone would be asking, ‘ who is she wearing?!’.

Now I know the palette looks very monochrome and ‘beige’. But that’s kind of it’s signature look so to speak. Classy, timeless pieces that again are multi generational. The embroidery is extremely intricate, you can tell on zooming in that a lot of time and effort has been put into the pieces. I know Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahiliani are not exactly comparable, but I don’t understand why more people don’t opt for Tarun vs. say AJSK.

TT does everything from lenghas to churidaars. But even with these classic silhouettes they have variations – and I promise it’s not weird. They not only do the classy heavy pieces, but they love playing with colors and patterns as well.

I would describe TT as wearable avant guarde at times. Well at least when they play around with pattens and textures. The fabric always accentuates the style of the person wearing it. I feel like anyone wearing a piece would immediately see their confidence soar.

TT is the brand I wish more western Indians opted for. It’s never guady no matter how much is going on, it’s something that represents Indian fashion in a way that is not only luxurious but understated. As a stereotype Indian clothing is always thought of being flashy and colourful, yes TT does that but its never tacky. Everyone will always ask who you’re wearing.

Indian men’s fashion is a whole different ball game. It’s hard to be experimental in that genre, but again TT makes it happen. You know how people say that every man looks sexy in a suit, I would go as far as to say every man looks so hot in a TT sherwani.

The more popular pieces of course are beautiful and something most people would love, but I honestly adore the brand for its little quirky bits. Everyone says away from bright colours, but when done correctly its absolutely beautiful. If I were to ever get married my dream lengha would be a rust or orange TT piece.

It’s hard to find a luxurious brand that isn’t overpowering, TT is just that.
